About this course
In addition to the normal entry criteria for level 3 programmes, you should have at least a GCSE grade C in a Science subject to join this course. You should also have good written and communication skills.

WHY TAKE EXERCISE SCIENCE?
Looking for a career in sport or do you want to study sport at University? Then join this outstanding area and study a BTEC National Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science. This is a full time course, which is equivalent to studying three A levels.
WHAT ARE THE KEY AREAS OF STUDY?
The BTEC National Diploma is a two year course consisting of eighteen units. Your tutors will set assignments for you to complete and you will receive plenty of feedback on how you can improve throughout the course. With a fully equipped sports centre, exercise physiology laboratory and specialised classrooms you will enjoy the challenges presented to you on this course. It covers many aspects of sport science, including units of work in; Sports psychology, Anatomy and performance, Sport and exercise science project, Sports injuries, Sports coaching and Sports biomechanics.
WHAT SKILLS WILL I NEED AND DEVELOP?
The course is designed to develop the individual student's range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for career development in sport specific employment or Higher Education. We aim to provide you with an interesting programme that is intellectually challenging. The course will be delivered via tutorials, laboratory work, work experience placement and practical sessions. We will encourage you to work independently and take responsibility for your own learning.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Through written assignments, oral presentations, posters, experiments and practical and work experience observations. All units in the programme are internally assessed and you will receive a pass, merit or distinction grade for each completed unit.
