Course content:
This course is intended for students who would like to take the first steps towards working in the sport and leisure industry. This is a practical course that combines class-based study with sports activities.
Topics include: working in sport and leisure, the healthy body, personal effectiveness, taking part in sport, starting work in sport & leisure and organising sport & leisure events.

Course Structure:
The course is a combination of practical activity and theory sessions timetabled across 3 days in the week.

Course resources:
Specialist resources include a full sized sports hall, weight training facilities and sports science laboratory equipment. All staff have current vocational competence.

Fees Info
The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
Approximately £30 for text books/materials. Appropriate sports clothing is essential for all practical work.

Entry Requirement:
This course is for school leavers aged 16-18 years. You will need either • 2 GCSE grades at E to G in relevant subjects (e.g. PE / Science and English).
A relevant entry level qualification (e.g. Skills for Working Life).
Relevant experience and / or training in the sports industry (e.g. coaching or fitness) will be considered in support of your application.
Learners unable to meet these requirements will have the opportunity to take a literacy and numeracy assessment to clarify the suitability of the course for them.
