This course is free if you are under 19. While we will not be able to confirm final fee rates until nearer your enrolment date, you may be eligible for a reduced fee rate if you are over 19.

Course Description:
This course is suitable if you have a strong interest in sport, sports science or exercise studies.
Course Content:
Six units are studied and will include:
· The Body in Sport
· Health, Safety and Injury in Sport
· Preparation for Sport
· Work-based Project in Sport
· Instructing Exercise & Fitness
· Key Skills.
You will also have the opportunity to take part in a residential and day trips relating to the course.
Assessment:
All six modules are assessed internally.
Next Steps:
Level 3 programmes in Sports, Sport Science and Exercise & Fitness Level 2 Fitness Instructor Award or employment in Local Authority Centres, private healthclubs, sports product manufacturers, companies or a career in the sports industry.

Entry Requirements:
Four GCSEs at grade E or above, including English, maths or science and ideally, PE or an equivalent qualification at Level 1. Applications are also welcome from mature students without the requisite qualifications, but with a successful reference from your previous educational/work establishment. All applicants must attend an interview, complete an initial assessment, attend a taster session and complete a workbook prior to being offered a place on the course.
