Course Content
The course is based in purpose-built accommodation which includes a meal preparation area, a bathroom and a craft and gardening area in addition to the usual classroom facilities. The course is, however, very outward-looking and full and extended use is made of College facilities and of the community at large, using minibuses and public transport, where appropriate. Individual programmes are devised in consultation with students, parents and other professionals allowing the course to cater for a wide range of needs and abilities. Students are encouraged to play a full and active part in College life, using the Learning Centre and recreational facilities. Individual students can also attend Community and Continuing Education courses, classes on other College courses and work experience where appropriate and usually with support. Group sizes are smaller than those of other courses and students are timetabled and supported according to the individual's need. There is a residential element (optional) for Duke of Edinburgh Award and other trips/visits have included France and UK field trips.
