Course Description:
The programme has been developed for those who are intending to follow a career in either electrical or electronic engineering and wish to follow an alternative route to that of A Levels and sixth form. Although the programme is vocationally orientated towards engineering, it will not prevent anyone from selecting other career routes at a later stage. The programme is largely academic but it contains significant practical elements. The National Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels.
The programme consists of associated subjects, or units, all of the same duration. A total of 17 units are required to gain the Diploma (for details of the units to be studied, please see full course leaflet). During the course, a range of subjects are covered that introduce many aspects of Electrical/Electronic technology. These are complemented with other subjects to provide a sound basis for the needs of an Electrical or Electronic engineer. Key skills in Application of Number, Communications and Information Technology are also an integral part of the course. For details on the units to be studied, please refer to the course leaflet.
