About this course

Four GCSEs at grade C or above, or GNVQ Intermediate or First Diploma in Textiles/Art and Design. You will be required to submit a portfolio of work, which demonstrates commitment and enthusiasm for the subject. Mature candidates without the necessary entry qualifications, but with a strong portfolio and evidence from initial assessment
of ability to work at Level 3, will be considered.

Course Description:
This broad based multi-media textile course is designed for students with a keen interest in and commitment to the study of textiles at an advanced level. It provides a sound basis for higher education and employment within a textile related area.
Course Content:
Skills will be gained through the generation of ideas and exploration and experimentation
of materials, techniques and processes to develop your skills in multi-media textiles. The course covers the following specialist units:
· embroidered and printed textiles
· textile installation
· fabric manipulation
· paper and printmaking
· surface pattern
· design methods
· computers in art
· photography.
You will also study core units, which include drawing and painting, life drawing and historical and contextual studies.
Assessment:
Continuous, with an externally assessed final major project and participation in an end-of-year exhibition.
Next Steps:
Foundation Degree, HND, Degree or related employment.
