Course Overview

Qualification gained: BTEC National Diploma in Travel & Tourism (equivalent to 3 A Levels) plus Key Skills.

Course Content: The course is structured into modular units. You will study the following eighteen units over a two year period: Investigating Travel & Tourism, Business of Travel & Tourism, Uk as a Destination, Customer Service, Marketing Travel & Tourism Products and Services, Preparing for Employment, European Travel Market, Long-haul Travel Destinations, Retail & business Travel Operations, Investigating the cruise Sector, Tour Operations, Holiday Representatives, Passenger Transport, Events Conferences & Exhibitions, UK Visitor Attractions, Work Experience, Airfares & Ticketing, Handling Air Passengers

Work Experience: Year two will include a work placement module

Course Assessment: You will be required to submit a number of assignments throughout the course which contribute to each module. Assignments will vary widely in their style and include reports, projects, presentations, practical work and oral work.

Progression: Successful completion allows progression to study for a higher education course such as HND, Foundation Degree or University Degree courses and future employment in the travel and tourism sector.

Homework: You will be expected to spend at least 5 - 10 hours per week outside of class time on your course work.

Additional Costs: There will be a number of trips throughout the year costing around 100, and uniform costs will be approximately 50. Applicants will have to pay for their Criminal Records Bureau check which is approximately 40.

  • Part Time Course Fee Relate to Year 1 course fees only. Two year course fees will have an additional course fee for the second year; these fees are subject to confirmation annually.

Applicants will need to disclose details of any criminal record. You should have a keen interest in the sector and a desire to work in a customer-focussed industry.
