Introduction
The travel and tourism industry is one of the most rapidly developing industries in the UK. This course is designed to give you a broad understanding of the travel & tourism industry with practical 'hands on' approach allowing you the opportunity to acquire and develop appropriate vocational skills and knowledge. It also allows you to explore the jobs and career opportunities within this vocational sector.

The course is made up of eight units: two core units and six optional units which staff have already chosen for you to complete. The optional units enable you to study particular areas in more depth and provide more practical demonstration of learning skills within the Travel and Tourism environment. You will study topics like Travel destinations, Workplace Communication skills, Selling skills, Promotional Materials and Visitor attractions. There will also be opportunities to cover extra modules such as Introduction to Sign Language & First Aid. You will go on trips as part of this course.

Method of Study
There are various assessments including practical projects, discussions, assignments, presentations and end tests. Visits to selected destinations and travel and tourism organisations and facilities will also form an essential part of the programme.
Progression
You can look forward to a career in the travel & tourism industry, such as airline customer services agent, travel consultant or a holiday rep. If you get credits in your modules, you possibly have the opportunity to go on to study an advanced level course like the BTEC National Certificate.
