Welsh (2nd Language) - AS Level
This is the course to choose if you wish to study English literature in greater depth than previously. You will be encouraged to speak your mind on literary topics, to respond personally to novels, plays and poetry, and to make balanced judgments based on your use of the techniques and standards of literary criticism. You will also learn the skill of laying out and presenting various kinds of text for specific purposes.

What will I study?
You will study subjects such as Drama, Prose and Poetry. The course is a natural progression from GCSE English Literature and aims to encourage enjoyment of literary studies based on an informed personal response to a range of texts. Candidates are required to evaluate the significance of cultural, historical and other contextual influences on literary texts.

Will I have to sit any examinations?
You will sit 3 examinations in June for the AS course.

What next?
Having successfully completed the course you will be able to progress to university to study for a degree in any of the humanities subjects or in social science.
