World Development A Level (Level 3)
Course Content
Not offered at GCSE level, World Development takes a holistic approach to our understanding of the economic, social, political and environmental forces which shape our lives.
The very nature of the subject encourages students to develop critical analysis and independent thinking skills while investigating contemporary issues such as globalisation and inter-dependence.
Study units include:

• Development, Resources and Global Citizenship;
• Poverty and Inequality;
• Concepts and Processes of Development;
• Individual Report.

This course is equivalent to 40-120 UCAS points.
Teaching/Assessment
The course modules are assessed through coursework and examinations.
Progression
This AS Subject would provide students with progression opportunities onto Higher Education courses in related fields e.g. Economics, Politics, World Development.
This course is beneficial to those considering working with international organisation and charities dealing with global issues.
