Course Features

Recognised qualification.

First stage of the modern apprentice scheme.

Can progress to Level 2 upon successful completion.

Vocational course with no written exams.

Assessment based on completing a Portfolio and satisfying the performance criteria of each unit by practical work, logbook entries and completion of knowledge questions.
Career Prospects and Progression

Completion of the course could allow successful students to progress to an Engineering Apprenticeship, and move on to level 2.

1. Working Safely in an engineering environment. 2. Working Efficiently and Effectively in Engineering 3. Using and Communicating Technical Information. 4. Making Components using Hand Tools and Fitting Techniques 5. Using Manual Metal Arc Welding Equipment. 6. Cutting and Shaping Platework Components.

Continuous assessment of practical coursework and portfolio development.
