About this course
A REPs recognised Level 3 Personal Training Qualification is required prior to commencing this course. This qualification should have been completed within the last 3 years or proof of your current REPs status will also be required. An original copy of your certificate(s) will need to be presented to your tutor on your first attendance course or assessment.

Functional Resistance and Sports-Specific Training
This is an essential course for any Personal Trainer who wants to stay at the forefront of delivering highly effective and tailored workouts and stay ahead of their game. In only one day you will learn how to deliver functional training and sports specific exercises, discuss the theory of functional training and movement patterns and learn how training for function and motor skills play a pivotal role in training clients to enhance their performance (as opposed to training specific muscles). Whether they are a golfer, distance runner or footballer you will see marked improvements in their performance, so whether it is improved speed, quickness, agility or explosive power that is needed, you are the able to offer an effective training programme to suit their needs.
This one day practical workshop shows you how to add variety and personalisation to your personal training sessions. You and your client will be able to see marked improvements in their training programme by using functional training and sports specific exercises. The practical skills learnt on the module will be assessed throughout the day by tutor observation and at the end of the day you'll do a short question and answer paper. Prior to attending this course you must have completed a REPS level 3 award.
· Theory of Functional Training and Movement Patterns
Define the meaning of functional training; learn how to train movement patterns and not individual muscles. Take a look at planes of movements and muscles responsible for strong function
· Functional Training and Motor Skills
Provides instructors with exercises relevant for everyday movements using a variety of kit and be able to deliver a practical circuit to develop motor skills
· Functional Sports Training
Take a look at exercises to develop speed, quickness, agility and explosive power. Design programmes for sports athletes such as distance runners and golfers
· Role of Functional Training for the Personal Trainer
Specific training to help clients achieve their goals and maximise performance, whilst also adding variety to training sessions
