ENTRY REQUIREMENTS? No specific entry requirements. HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED? To obtain the Functional Skills qualification you will need to undertake an online test or paper test. How you will be assessed This qualification is accredited by City and Guilds. There are three assessment components: – Reading
– Writing

On average the course can be completed in 8 -14 weeks, based on 3-4 hours study a week. How does it work? All our Functional Skills Qualifications work this way and we will provide you with the support you need to go through this process:
  • An Initial Assessment
  • This is to find the academic level at which you are working.
  • A Diagnostic Assessment
  • This looks at different elements of the course and identifies which areas you are competent in and which areas require more work.
  • Create each learner an online ILP
  • Your Individual Learner Portfolio gives you information, practice quizzes and assessments, video clips and other resources to help your learning.
  • A highly qualified and skilled tutor will be assigned to assist you throughout your whole programme. This will enable you to track your progress and receive individual support and supplementary learning materials.
What will you study? The course content includes 3 distinct strands each of which are assessed separately. All of the tasks and assessments are based on practical real-life situations which you could encounter in your work or home life. They also include the use of presentation skills as well as using grammar, spelling and punctuation correctly. Speaking and listening Taking part in a discussion, listening and responding to other people’s point of view, being able to present your ideas to a small group. Reading Reading a variety of different texts and interpreting and responding to the information. Writing Presenting information and ideas in your own words. Where and How? Our mode of learning is distance & online learning – This allows you to study from home, in the workplace or anywhere you have an internet connection.
