Experience of HTML and an awareness of databases and of web servers.
Course Includes:
A comprehensive set of reference notes covering course topics, follow-up telephone support and, for training on Transmedia premises, lunch and refreshments.
Course Outline
Day 1
· Brief overview of the course objectives
· Introduction to multi-tier web architecture and server infrastructure
· ColdFusion Environment: working with the administration environment; introduction to ColdFusion Studio editing environment
· Discussion of problem posed by legacy systems and content
· Re-using existing content with the CFInclude statement
· Introduction to basic control logic in ColdFusion: If..if else..else; Switch...case; Variables
(Note: this module works best if the students can bring a copy of their websites on a CD)
Day 2
· Introdution to Database connectivity: ODBC; OLE; Com objects
· Data Sources in ColdFusion administrator
· Creating a select query
· Forms
· Introduction to the logic of SQL: Select; Insert; Update; Delete
· Other users SQL: Creating databases; creating tables; modifying existing tables; destroying databases
· Security and SQL
Day 3
· Working with other Servers: email; FTP; Directory; Files
· CFForms vs HTML forms- when to use which
· Working with Cookies
· Site architecture - the issues of scaling
Day 4
· Building the basic core of the students' application goal. This day is agreed on the first day and topics will be added as appropriate
