The course is designed for those who have completed level 2 in furniture making and wood machining or have good hand and machining skills. It’s centred around three projects one of which is a group project. In these projects you will have the chance to refine and develop your skills and as they are designed by you there is an opportunity to explore new skill areas. You will also cover furniture design and look at the British history of furniture design, wood finishing.

Course programme
How will I study?
The course units will be Design, prototyping, production, complex assembly, H&S and finishing. If under 19 you may be required to study either GCSE or Functional skills as part of your programme. In addition to this we would aim to give you some work experience.
How will I be taught?
By your dedicated lecturers who will guide you through the course in both the classroom and the workshop.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be through grading on your practical projects, through short answer question papers and online tests.
