You will develop your mathematical skills to identify and analyse problems, understand and apply your knowledge. A2 takes your study further expanding on the core maths in C3 and C4 and builds on earlier work, expanding algebra and trigonometry, and further examining functions and proof.

Don’t worry about the cost of learning! We can help and advise you. For 16-18 year-olds, your tuition will be free and you may be able to get discounted travel with Transport for London student travel cards. 19+: Adults on many courses are eligible for Government funding for some or all of the fee. Adults aged 19-23 are eligible for Government funding up to and including their first full level 3 qualification, and after that they may access an Advanced Learner Loan to cover tuition fees if the course is loan-fundable. Adults aged 24+ on a level 3+ course may take out an Advanced Learner Loan to cover tuition fees if the course is loan-fundable. If you do need to pay a fee, the College offers a number of ways to pay and can also advise you about financial support available to you. How do I enrol? For 16-18 year old students main enrolment is the day when GCSE results are released (August). However, early enrolment does take place during the summer. Student success Last year, our achievement rate was 70% with most students progressing higher level courses. What's the time commitment Overall, the standard 3 AS/A2 Level course package a student takes has 15 hours teacher contact time per week plus one hour of workshop support over the course of one year. However, you should expect to spend an extra 5 hours a week on private study and completing homework. We will expect you to use a range of resources to reinforce and extend class work (e.g.) books, journals, CD ROMS, Internet and Intranet, etc. Where do I go? Support for you Before you start your lessons, you’ll take part in induction sessions, where you’ll meet other students and find out all about the support that’s available to you. This includes learning about the Virtual Learning Environment, tutorials and the campus facilities. All students can receive free, confidential and impartial advice on things like: your next step in education or your career, finance, housing, health, immigration, benefit claims, legal problems, sexual health, drugs, staying safe, personal / emotional concerns and other issues. As a student of HCC Sixth Form, you are entitled to additional learning support if you need it. For many students additional support is provided on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. This is very beneficial to your learning as it is a mechansim by which you can develop your literacy and numeracy skills and so improve your chances of success on the course. Subject specific workshops are available after the October half term as one hour sessions per week to assist and support your learning. The college experience Based in the heart of Hoxton, our Shoreditch Campus is a great place to study. It’s spacious, with well-thought out study facilities – plus outdoor and indoor social areas to catch up with friends. Students from many different backgrounds come to HCC and achieve – so you’re bound to fit in. HCC Sixth Form offers an academic (A Level) programme as well as a specialist science vocational programme. The college has a main sector geared towards adult courses, specialist language skills study ESOL and BSL; support for students developing independent living as well as specialist vocational training such as electrical engineering, carpentry and construction, European and community languages etc. However, there is a high degree of mixing of courses across the different sections of the college and some of our students take the opportunity to mix courses between different departments. Last year, 91% of our students said they’d recommend us to a friend. 83% said the college was a friendly place to study, 79% planned to progress onto another course with us and 97% felt that HCC was a safe place to be.
