About this course

Games Technology BTEC National Diploma Level 3

About the course:
This programme aims to develop both your academic and practical, work-related skills and you will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. It is equivalent to 3 A Levels which means when you have finished the course you can choose whether to go into higher education or employment.

Course Content:
Games Development provides you with a comprehensive understanding of the specialist skills and knowledge needed in the games industry.

You will learn about the varying career opportunities within the computer games industry, giving you the necessary information to help you chose the right career path and progress to higher education.

The course is designed to help you develop your skills and explore possible new abilities and aspirations. Games development has five core units, two mandatory specialist units, plus a choice of further specialist units. The structure of the course allows you to focus on areas which will be most helpful to you, such as digital graphics for interactive media, 3D animation, computer game engines or computer game story development.

Learning Style:
Students will be taught in the media studio or classrooms, using appropriate equipment. Work will include group work and individual tasks.

Assessment:
Assessment is assignment based. There are no exams.

Progression:
The internationally recognised BTEC course allow you to progress into employment, or continue to develop your skills at University. There are a variety of career opportunities to explore.

The BTEC National Diploma in Media Production is the equivalent of three A Levels, and it is possible for you to progress further into higher education. BTEC National Diploma qualifications give enough UCAS points for university applications.

Attendance - 2 year course, Full time, Approx 4 days a week If you are under 19 at the start of the course, and studying a full time course, there are no tuition / exam fees. If you are over 19, you are liable for tuition / exam fees - please contact Student Services.
