The qualification is accessible to everyone who wishes to continue their personal development in literacy and numeracy and has a record of continual self achievement. We are looking for a positive attitude and a willingness to work hard towards self improvement in these areas. (Employers in the construction industry are expressing the need for higher levels of literacy and numeracy skills)
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
- For those wishing to raise their basic skill level in literacy and numeracy to progress onto trade level construction courses.
- For those who wish to test their aspirations for working within the construction industry in either carpentry or joinery fields. (Employers indicate that an understanding of either trade is helpful to the other).
WHY EMBARK ON A CAREER IN CONSTRUCTION?
- There is a predicted short fall of approximately 15,000 people per year in the South East in the construction industry according to sector skills councils.
- The most significant shortage is in wood occupations.
