If you are aged 16-18 and study on a full-time, further education programme then your course is free.
If you are over 18 then grants and loans may be available to help towards course fees.
Is it for me?
ICT is offered as an Advanced Subsidiary VCE in years 12 and 13 and Advanced VCE level in year 13.
What do I need?
AS level Intermediate GNVQ in ICT or 4 GCSE grade C or above in any subject.
A2 level successful completion of AS level ICT.
What will I study?
The Advanced Subsidiary course is equivalent to an AS Level and consists of 3 modules:
  • Presenting Information
  • ICT in Organisations
  • Spreadsheet Design
The Advanced VCE course is equivalent to an A Level and also consists of the 3 modules listed above and a further 3 optional modules.
Assessment
In each year of the course two modules are project based and one module is examined.
How will I be taught?
ICT students are expected to spend at least one session per cycle helping in KS3 ICT classes to enhance their ICT knowledge and use their skills.
What qualification will I get?
AS/A2 Level ICT.
Can I go onto further study?
Many ICT students have gone into Higher Education and have embarked upon courses in Graphic Design, Software Engineering, and Business and ICT.
What are the career opportunities?
Students have gone on to work in computing, retail or office environments.
