GCE A Level Art, Craft & Design

Programme Features:

• Learners will develop skills in Painting, drawing, 3D work, illustration and printmaking
• Studio sessions are available for learners to make use of equipment in free time
• Historical and contextual studies are integrated within each learner’s personal projects
• Learners have the opportunity to participate in local and National competitions
• Visits to exhibitions, galleries and workshops are organised for all learners
• All second year learners and selected first year learners exhibit their work at an end of year exhibition.

A Level

ART3 Unit 3 : Art & Design Personal Investigation

One unit of coursework based on themes and subject matter developed from personal starting points that requires the candidate to communicate their understanding through integrated images and texts that includes a written element of no less than 1000 words. All work will be selected, evaluated and presented for assessment by the candidates. Critical contextual understanding may be demonstrated through written, visual, oral or other appropriate forms.

ART4 Unit 4 : Art & Design Controlled Assignment

One unit that comprises an externally set assignment presented to the candidates at the start of the preparation period for the controlled test that will be a continuous period of focused study of twelve hours. All work will be selected, evaluated and presented for assessment by the candidates. Critical contextual understanding may be demonstrated through written, visual, oral or other appropriate forms.
