Students will develop an understanding of how to use a camera and associated techniques. The course contains an equal mixture of practical and theory work.
This is a mainly practical course, based on research, experimentation, production and evaluation with an emphasis on black and white photography and digital imaging. In addition, students are required to write ideas/evaluations and image analysis in a sketchbook and attend theory lectures.

Some popular topics studied within these themes include the greenhouse effect, energy resources, pollution, waste disposal, wildlife and landscape conservation.
This is a one year course leading to the OCR, Art & Design examination in Photography. There is a short practical introduction to the use of SLR and semi-automatic cameras, which students can borrow, and to the techniques involved in using the college darkrooms and photographic studio.
