Entry Requirements: All full time students will receive an advisory interview with an admissions tutor prior to being offered a place. Part-time students will ideally have already achieved a grade D (or equivalent) in English Language, including those who have recently studied GCSE in school. We encourage applications from mature students regardless of previous qualifications. All students will have their suitability assessed at the start of the course and will be advised accordingly.

Course Description:
To develop a range of skills in the use and understanding of English Language and Literature and to provide an essential qualification for further education and employment.

Description Breakdown:
You will need to complete a minimum of three assessed pieces of work, take part in three or more speaking and listening assignments and sit two exam papers in early June. The work you produce over the year will be put together to form a final portfolio for assessment.

Assessment is through a combination of written and oral coursework (40%) and final examination (60%).

Trips Residentials: You willl be able to attend a performance of a Shakespeare play by the Black Cat Theatre Company; this is followed by a Master Class in stagecraft and theatricality. There will be some places to attend a Poetry Conference at De Montfort Hall.
