The GCSE in English course offered at Chichester College is designed to give students the confidence and knowledge required to improve a GCSE D grade (or Level 2 Numeracy/Literacy) to that vital C grade needed to progress into any further education courses. Students are given the opportunity to either undertake the course at the same time they take part in their own vocational study, or take it as a standalone course.

What you need to know
How will I study?

In general terms, you will be able to study a wide variety of texts, develop your critical thinking and ability to synthesise, evaluate the use of vocabulary and grammar for effectiveness and impact, produce different types of texts and reflect and analyse spoken language.
How will I be taught?

The course is delivered in a three hour session per week, where contents are delivered in a dynamic setting, while encouraging student participation and critical thinking.
How will I be assessed?

The qualification is assessed in two main parts. The external assessment evaluates the students' reading and writing skills, while the internal assessment, separately endorsed, concentrates on their Spoken Language skills. Moreover, homework or assignments may take place during the course.
