What is GCSE Mathematics?
The course is run primarily as a resit of the course you followed at school. We highly recommend anyone with a D grade to seriously consider following this one year course to improve their grade. Students can also do the course to improve a C grade to a B or an A if they need to progress to a course that will require higher than a C. Gaining a C grade or above has proved beneficial to many students enabling them to progress on to more advanced courses here, and gaining the entry requirements for many college and university courses. It can also be a prerequisite for many jobs.
Is GCSE Mathematics suitable for me?
Past students have found the course very rewarding but sometimes difficult. Different students enjoy varying parts of the course. The greatest pleasure comes from gaining in confidence and sometimes actually achieving two grades higher!
How will I learn?
Typical lessons will be similar to those experienced in your school, although the content may seem different. You will be expected to attend 4 hours per week in a classroom with some lessonsin a room with IT facilities.
How will I be assessed?
You will take 3 modular exams interspaced throughout the year, in November, March and June.
There will also be formal assessments each half-term so that you can monitor your own progress.

With a C grade Helen gained entry onto her preferred Music course at university and Stuart met the entry requirements for the Engineering BTEC National course he wanted to take after the First level.

All students will be expected to provide their own textbooks, stationery, computer disks and calculators (where appropriate). Any further costs are outlined below:
