Level 2 St Paul's Campus 36 Weeks Part Time

GCSE Mathematics classes are offered at various times throughout the week to cater for daytime and evening students. It is a one year course and classes are 3 hours per week. The course allows learners to study the AQA GCSE Mathematics syllabus, specification B at the Foundation level which has sections on Algebra, Number, Shape & Space and Data Handling. A grade C is available on the Foundation tier and we would recommend that most adults studying GCSE mathematics will take the Foundation Tier, however, learners with an existing grade C or those who can demonstrate competency above this level can be considered for the Higher Tier.

The course will focus on developing Algebra, Number, Shape & Space and Data Handling skills in a modular format.
There are six written exams in throughout the length of the course, including 3 Calculator Papers and 32 Non-Calculator papers. Each paper carries a percentage of the total marks towards the full qualification. In addition each student has to complete two pieces of coursework during the year, which is a mandatory part of the course.
The total weighting for this qualification is 80% examination and 20% coursework.
