GCSE Modular Maths

The Mathematics Department enter all pupils for a modular exam. This entails hard work during the 2-year course.

There are three levels of entry:
Foundation - Grades available D - G
Intermediate - Grades available B - E
Higher - Grades available A* - C

From June 2008 there will be only 2 levels of entry:

Foundation - Grades Available C - G
Higher - Grades Available A* - C

The course requires 3 elements:
Module Papers
Coursework
Terminal Paper

Modules 30%
January and June Year 11, March Year 12

3 Modular Papers, each
- 30 mins non-calculator
- 30 mins calculator
Best 2 modules will count
Minimum of 2 modules must be completed

Coursework 20%
1 piece Data Handling
1 piece Using and Applying Mathematics
each piece worth 10%

Terminal Paper 50%
June Year 12

1 hour non-calculator
1 hour calculator
