This course concentrates mainly on the Higher-level papers. Areas covered are
similar to the intermediate course but cover these areas in more detail.
Core content
The course will focus on these core areas:
Number
- Direct and inverse proportion
- Rational and irrational numbers
- Calculate upper and lower bounds of numerical solutions
- Use rules of indices for negative and fractional vales
Algebra
- Solve quadratic equations using the formula
- Tangents to curves
- Transformations of functions
- Select mathematical functions to fit sets of data that model increasingly complex situations and use them to solve problems
Shapes, Space and Measure
- Trigonometry
- Angle and tangent properties of circles
- Areas of sectors and areas of segments
- Enlargements with negative scale factors
Handling Data
- Construct and interpret histograms
- Conditional probabilities
