Course programme

GCSE Science GCSE Science at Paston is designed to give you an excellent opportunity to improve your grade to a grade C or better, an important qualification for many careers and university courses.
This is one of the new Science courses with a much greater emphasis on understanding how Science 'works' rather than learning lots of facts.
You will learn how scientists "investigate" problems and collect evidence.
Topics include:
· How the human body works and how to keep healthy
· Evolution and how we affect our environment
· Plastics - how they are made and can we live without them?
· Are we using too much energy?
· Electricity, how it powers machines and devices
· Electromagnetic and nuclear radiations - is sunbathing really bad for you?
Assessment
6 short multiple choice tests (30 minutes) for the units covered, taken during the course.
Coursework - your best piece will count 25% to your final mark. This will be a scientific investigation followed by a short written test in class.
