About this Course
This is a part-time course with attendance of three hours a week. It is an essential qualification for many further and higher education courses and is valued by most employers. GCSE Science is a requirement for gaining Qualified Teacher Status. You will need to have over 90% attendance in order to succeed on the course.

Course programme
You will learn the basic concepts of biology, chemistry and physics.
Biology topics include diet and exercise, defence against disease, nerves and hormones, reproduction, ecology and evolution. Chemistry topics include atoms, the periodic table, chemical reactions, metals, crude oil and fuels, emulsions, composition of the Earth’s crust. Physics topics include energy types and transfer, energy efficiency, generating electricity, waves, reflection and sound
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by exam in June and by completion of a practical assessment. You will also take GCSE exams in Maths and English if required

You will be able to learn in the science labs with experienced and enthusiastic tutors.
What can I progress to?
Upon successful completion of your GCSE Science course, you will be able to study on the Applied Science Level 3 or an Access Science Level 3 course depending upon your age and achievement.
