This level 2 learning area programme includes a Performing Engineering Operation 64 credit NVQ and skills units. This programme has been designed to satisfy candidates who want to progress from General Engineering level 2 but are not ready for a level 3 programme and who wish to acquire level 2 engineering competences in a sheltered, controlled environment. An opportunity to resit English and mathematics GCSEs is available with this course, essential requirements for progression to level 3 engineering courses.

About this course

The entry requirement for this award is a minimum of a BTEC level 2 certificate plus four GCSEs graded D to E, with a minimum of D grades in Maths and English or equivalent, and subject to interview including diagnostic testing. Candidates must demonstrate the basic skills required for this course, with a keen desire to achieve an engineering qualification.

The programme provides evidence that you can do a particular job or skill to level 2 standard and may help you progress to employment or to a higher level NVQ/BTEC or similar qualification. It will develop learners with broadbased engineering skills and help them decide on a particular engineering specialisation (ie. mechanical or electrical).
