Geography A Level LocationCranford Avenue Course Overview Apply Now You will gain an awareness of the World and its people as well as an understanding of the latest developments in environmental issues. You will gain an insight into a range of themes which will prepare you for a suitable career or to continue to study Geography at a higher level at university. This A Level can be successfully combined with any other A level subjects. Current students also study Sciences, Psychology, English, Photography, Maths, History and Law for example. Students achieve high grades at AS and most go on to A2 and every year some go on to university courses in Geography or related subjects such as Geology or Ecology or International Development.

Course programme

At least 5 GCSEs A – C including Maths and English, unless otherwise stated at interview for specific subjects requirements. Course Content Choosing to study A Level Geography will develop your knowledge and understanding of key physical, human and environmental processes that underpin geographical concepts such as hazards, globalisation, migration, biodiversity and climate change. You will gain an insight into a range of issues that will prepare you for a career or university. Local field trips are a compulsory part of the course. AS units • Global challenges • Geographical investigations (involves fieldwork around Dorset) A2 units • Contested planet • Geographical research Progression Students who completed this course have gained places on courses such as BS (Hons) Psychology, BA (Hons) English and BSc (Hons) Geography at institutions such as Bristol University, Durham University and University of the West of England. Fees • If you are aged 16-18 as of 31 August on the year of enrolment – no course fee. • If you are over 19 as of 31 August and enrolling on a full-time programme of study a tuition fee will be applicable in most cases. Bursary funds There are financial support arrangements for 16-18 year olds and hardship funds available for the over 19s.
