At least 5 GCSEs at minimum grade C including maths, English and science. Course Content In the first year, you will complete fieldwork within the UK. AS units • Plate tectonics • Rock structures • The rock cycle • Igneous processes and products • Sedimentary processes and products • Metamorphic processes and products A2 units • Environmental geology – this covers the major uses of geological resources, addressing environmental, technological, safety and economic issues in addition to geological concepts • Evolution of life, earth and climate – this covers the history of life on earth and the interaction between life and the physical environment is explored Progression A Levels are suitable entry to university as well as a great way of demonstrating your capabilities to potential employers. A Levels open up a wide choice of career opportunities, many of which would require you to study at higher education level and will require the correct mix of A Level qualifications. Fees • If you are aged 16-18 as of 31 August on the year of enrolment – no course fee. • If you are over 19 as of 31 August and enrolling on a full-time programme of study a tuition fee will be applicable in most cases.
