What is the course about?
Studying German at AS Level gives you the opportunity to build on the German language skills you have developed at GCSE Level.
During this one year course, you will further develop your skills in the key areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing. However, the course will also give you a far better understanding of Germany, its people and culture, as well as an insight into other German speaking countries.
German at AS Level is not limited to just a textbook and dictionary, although you will be expected to have your own copy of each. You will use authentic materials, including German newspapers, magazines, books and the internet, and will be given the opportunity to watch German TV and films.
To provide a better understanding of life in Germany, there may also be the opportunity to participate in an exchange and educational visit, or even work experience in Germany.

These skills will be assessed in an exam, consisting of three separate parts.
