What Will I Study?
AS: Family and relationships, popular culture, healthy living and the media.

A2: Environment, the multicultural society, contemporary social issues (such as wealth and poverty or the impact of scientific and technological progress), and two cultural topics (related to the target language country)

All these topics are studied giving an opportunity to learn more about these issues in places where German is spoken.

Study Visits
Family exchange visits to Germany are offered in both years of the course. They are not compulsory, but strongly recommended for improving communication skills and giving you the opportunity to experience German culture and life.

Cost
Around £215 for the family exchange.

Assessment
AS - one unit assessed by examination (listening, reading and writing) and a prepared oral.

A2 - one unit assessed by examination (listening, reading and writing) and a prepared oral.

Useful Supporting Courses
It is possible to study up to three separate languages at Advanced Level. Languages support virtually every other choice of subjects, particularly English Language, the Humanities, Social Sciences and Business.
