Would you like to improve your current testing capabilities? This Level 3 qualification is aimed at individuals who are responsible for Portable Appliance Testing.

The course is an introduction to PAT Testing, and it provides the opportunity to achieve a full City & Guilds Qualification. The course content provides a full overview of the legal aspects of In-Service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment.

Some of the topics covered include identification of different classes of equipment, the inspection process and how to test and interpret results. You will also learn the regulations and responsibilities involved in testing and how to take the proper safety precautions. In addition to learning how to interpret the results, you will learn how to implement a test programme.

The course teaches you the requirements for inspection and testing of portable appliances, as well as how to use a portable appliance tester. You will also learn how to work with personnel and equipment during inspection & testing. Several different types of tests will be explained.

Delegates are advised to return on a separate date to attempt the on-line exam

About this course

This course is suitable for any individual who is responsible for the safety of electrical equipment or who wishes to be involved in portable appliance testing.

There are no formal entry requirements however learners must be at least 16 years old.
You will need to bring your current copy of the IEE In-service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment Book. Candidates will be required to return on a separate day to attempt an on-line examination
