What are the main features of this course?
Politics is an essential aspect of social life. Whenever interaction takes place, politics is never far away. Politics arises from the different beliefs, ideas and interests that we hold. The conflict that can emerge from these competing interests is managed through politics.

The study of Government and Politics enables students to gain a greater understanding of political life and the political systems of the UK and of the wider world. You will study from a range of topics selected from, the nature of democracy and political participation, key institutions and principles of UK government, UK/EU Political Issues, Political Ideologies, Politics in the USA or Global politics. Students will develop an insight into political beliefs, central to an understanding of the modern world.

Hours of Lessons per week: 4.7 Indicative Group Size: 16

How is the course assessed?
Two exams will be sat during the first year and 2 further exams in the second year.

Who should study this course?
You must have at least five GCSEs at grade C or better including English Language.
