We use many creative methods for the teaching of Government and Politics, including lively debates and discussions. Students taking this course will also make extensive use of internet searches in our IT suites.
What will I study?
You will study the British Political System, the ideologies that shaped it and factors that impact upon it today. At A2 you will get the opportunity to study American political systems and compare them to the British system. Two modules are studied in the first year:
- People, Politics and Participation
- Governing Modern Britain
- Government of the USA
- Politics of the USA
What will I achieve?
Government and Politics combines well with a range of social science and humanities subjects to lead to University courses in such areas as business, economics, law, media, philosophy and politics itself. Politics is a useful qualification for those wishing to enter journalism, TV and radio research and production and for managers in the civil service and local authorities.
How is the course assessed?
AS Level - two examinations A-Level - two examinations
What else will I do?
Students on this course are given the opportunity to visit Parliament. Guest speakers will be invited.
