2. Course description If you're fascinated by how our country and our world functions, how laws are made and passed, and how we can actually influence change, then this A-Level in Government and Politics is ideal for you. Whether you're already politically active or if you're new to the idea of politics and want to find out more, this course is perfect. You'll start by developing a full overview of the British political system, looking at all the different political parties from Labour and the Conservatives to UKIP and the Green Party, understanding what they stand for and who they typically represent. You'll then study voting and elections in this country, understanding how they work, why we use these systems, and how different pressure groups can influence results. As you deepen your knowledge of the political system, you'll then get to focus on how it works in practice, and explore how Britain is governed with the role of the prime minister, the cabinet and MPs. And you'll get lots of opportunities to develop your debating skills and have your say on issues which affect us all. With Brexit, President Trump and a constantly changing world, one thing is for sure - Government & Politics is never boring!
