2. Course description In the first year of the course you will look at the links between government and the public, the political parties, pressure groups and elections. You will also look at the concepts and institutions that underpin government and politics within the UK including the judiciary and the constitution. During the second year of the course you will look at government and politics in the USA including voting behaviour, pressure groups, the constitution, US congress and the Supreme Court. This will enable you to make links between the similarities and differences between the two systems.

3. Entry requirements You will normally be expected to have five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and Mathematics. You will be expected to have a grade B in History. 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method In the first and second year you will take two exam papers. The papers from each year will account for 50% of your overall grade achieved at the end of the A Level.
