Our MA in Graphic Design and Visualisation is centred around the Project Proposal, which you will write. We look for original, thought-provoking and innovative ideas which can be explored at MA level. Design and Research (30 credits)

Design and Research (30 credits)

This module requires the interrogation of issues related to a specialised field of study in graphic design and visualisation. A topic area (of your choosing) will be exposed and explored through a range of learning and teaching activities. Detailed inquiry is reported in verbal, visual and written format at intervals throughout. This leads to the submission of a written assignment that introduces the associated history, theory and criticism of the student's chosen topic area, a visual audit of graphic objects in that field, and a clearly stated research question that will guide future inquiry.

Exploring Materials Processes and Techniques (30 credits)

The modules requires the exploration of contemporary and emerging materials, processes and techniques relevant to individual and group practice. Detailed findings are reported in verbal, visual and written formats.

Semester 2

Final Project: Situating and Rehearsing (30 credits)

Final Project: Situating and Rehearsing (30 credits)

This module focuses on proposing, developing and evaluating a final project proposal in the context of professional and entrepreneurial practice, and through examining commercial, technical, social and ethical opportunities, and constraints.

Research Methodologies: Art and Design (30 credits)

Research Methodologies: Art and Design (30 credits)

This module develops the 'research journey' in relation to the appropriate use of research questions, context, methods, and practice. This includes: literature review, development of hypotheses, development of research strategy, validation of research methods and a poster presentation.

Final Project (60 credits)

Creative studio practice in this module is proposed in the student-led learning agreement and informed by tutorial review. The learning agreement is finalised in the first week of study, through negotiation between the student and the responsible examiner.
