GRAPHIC DESIGN (BTEC National Diploma)

Why should I come to Pendleton College?
You will enjoy a creative and supportive learning environment with dedicated studio space and a computing suite with industry standard software. Your tutors will encourage you to develop both creatively and technically. You will be taught by practicing artists and designers.

What will I study?
You will study a range of topics including, Design, Typography, Packaging, Advertising and Illustration. The course covers traditional studio techniques alongside digital image making. You will study five core units which will cover the essential skills needed for a career in Graphic Design. You will also study thirteen optional units allowing you to develop a range of specialist skills.

What will I achieve?
On successful completion of the course you will achieve a National Diploma in Graphics which is equivalent to two A-Levels. This will allow you to progress directly onto University or help you find employment within the industry. A high number of students achieve top grades. How is the course assessed?
Thirteen of the eighteen units are assessed internally by your tutors through continual assessment. The other five units are assessed externally.

What else will I do?
You will do real "live" briefs/projects set by external clients. This year's students have successfully undertaken live briefs/projects for the National Health Service and Salford Reds Rugby League Club. There will be numerous opportunities to visit galleries and exhibitions and to travel to New York or Europe, which will broaden your experience and horizons. You will have the opportunity to participate in enrichment activities including a course in Life Drawing. You will be encouraged to take part in a variety of workshops at Salford University and Whitworth Art Gallery.
