If you have a particular interest in a range of possible Visual Communication related areas then this is the course for you.This specialist course is validated by the Open University.
What will I study?
On the BA Hon's Graphic Design you will explore a range of visual communication related disciplines including Typography, Editorial Design, Branding and Corporate Identity, Advertising, Motion Graphics, Animation and Interactive Design. You will also explore design history and the whole course is underpinned by research on a number of levels. The course gradually develops through progressive levels of specialism at years 2 and particularly 3, reflecting the individual students interests and strengths. Work placements are encouraged at level 2 and at level 3 students stage and a London based Graduation exhibition is staged. There are live projects with local and London based agencies and visits from practitioners. In addition there are study visits to London and abroad with locations such as New York.

What can I do next?
You can enter employment in a range of alternative capacities or continue your education at post graduate level. Certain students have opted to teach and have undertaken a PGCE course on completion of their BA.
What employment does this relate to?
Students have been chosen for major competitions such as the D & AD Awards and included in yearbooks such as the Association of Illustrators Images: Best of British Illustration. Past students are employed in many different capacities such as major London based Branding and Publishing Houses, Advertising, Graphics for the Fashion Industry, Graphic Designers for Large Architectural Practices and Motion plus Interactive Design.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment takes two forms. There is formative assessment and feedback during modules and summative assessment at the end. Modules are marked by two independent assessors and then internally, finally the course is externally verified. You will be encouraged to undertake self and peer assessment and efforts are made to ensure that the whole process is transparent and accessible. Grade profiles to date have been significantly above the national average.
