The Programme
The Diploma in Graphic Design provides the opportunity for students to develop their creative talents alongside practical vocational skills. Students often work on 'real' jobs provided by external clients. Students experience self-motivated work and working as part of a team.
The Programme Content
The course consists mainly of 4-6 week assignments that are linked to specific units of study covering typography, illustration, packaging design, advertising and corporate identity (logo) design. Great emphasis is placed on learning how to generate and develop creative ideas and concepts using a variety of materials, techniques and processes. Learners are strongly encouraged to experiment with a range of traditional media (such as drawing, painting, print-making and photography) as well as developing computer software skills using Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
Progression / Careers
The National Diploma in Graphic Design is worth three A Levels. The aim of the course is to provide specific training in Graphic Design whilst enabling students to go on to degree courses, Higher National Diploma courses in Graphic Design and Art & Design related subjects, or directly into employment.
