This is the main qualification required for employment in a gym/health club/leisure club.
About the Course
Students will cover the following 5 elements:
* Plan and prepare a gym session - teaching points on all of the free weights, resistance machines and CV machines. How to screen participants prior to exercise. How to plan a training programme for a client. Write a comprehensive Lesson Plan.
* Teaching a gym session - professionally teach all the exercises over the duration of the course.
* Evaluate your teaching.
* Support participants in developing and maintaining fitness, including tutoring them in the benefits of regular exercise and professional behaviour in the gym including customer service.
Course Aims
To be able to instruct clients in the use of CV machines, resistance machines and free weights.
What are the entry requirements?
How is the course assessed?
Externally assessed multiple choice exam (1hr)covering the following.
* Bones and joints
* Muscles and their actions
* Energy systems and nutrition
* Heart & circulation, lungs & breathing
* Components of fitness
* Principles of training.
Practical exam (1.5hrs): take a client through a gym workout which includes, warm up, resistance machines and free weights, CV, cool down.
