Course Overview
This two year course is suitable for students interested in hairdressing as a career option or as refresher course for those wishing to return to the industry, or perhaps to obtain a formal recognised qualifcation. Level 2 is the accepted minimum for a junior hairdresser in the industry.
Additional training is highly recommended to enhance and supplement your main learning goal, to improve employment opportunities and add to your curriculum vitae. As such we endeavour to organise and arrange as varied external input as possible during your course of study.

It is not necessary to have obtained a NVQ level 1 in hairdressing to start this course.

Course Structure
The programme is delivered over two academic years (each of 34 weeks). Wed & Thurs evenings 6pm-9pm

  • Promoting a Positive Impression of Yourself and Your Organisation
  • Hygiene
  • Consultation
  • Shampoo and Conditioning
  • Basic Cutting
  • Finishing & Dressing Techniques
  • Basic Colouring Techniques
  • Salon Manager responsibility


Qualification Aims
C &G NVQ in Hairdressing at level 2

Assessments/Examinations
Continual written and practical assessments/assignments in both theory and practical aspects of the course.

Practical assessments are carried out in a realistic work environment (RWE) on fee-paying clients.

A portfolio of evidence is compiled throughout the course and submitted for final verification.
