Overview
Hairdressing requires you to support clients in a busy working environment and our Intemediate Apprenticeship will give you the confidence, training and qualifications you need to improve your career opportunities. Learning in a salon environment (both in employment and training) you'll gain the basic techniques of washing, drying, styling and salon management to enable you to work in industry.

Entry Requirements
No formal entry requirements for Level 2 however you must have a positive attitude also be committed and in employed within the industry to enrol on the course. You must complete a trade-test for entry on to Level 3. You must be employed in a hair salon to qualify for the apprenticeship, working a minimum of 30 hours a week within the industry.

Course Duration
Apprenticeship Level 2 is 18 months - 2 years

Skills and Benefits
The course combines paid employment with time out of your job as required to gain career-focused training at college.

Mandatory Units
NVQ Level 2: 8 Mandatory units: Health & Safety 4 credits Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organization 5 credits Advise and consult with clients 4 credits Shampoo, condition and treat the hair & scalp 4 credits Change hair colour 11 credits Style & finish hair 6 credits Set & dress hair 6 credits Cut hair using basic technique 8 credits Total of 48 Credits Plus a choice of optional units for you to choose from which need to total 6 or more credits Full total of 54 Credits Additional Units: Employer rights and responsibilities (ERR)

Optional Units
There are no optional units on this qualification.

Course Assessment
You will complete online tests that will relate theory to practice. You will also collect evidence from the work place.

Progression
You may progress on to: Level 3 Barbering, Level 3 Extensions or Level 3 Hairdressing on successful completion of Level 2.
