Hairdressing Intermediate Apprenticeship LocationCranford Avenue Course Overview Apply Now 2 Year Programme with 1 day a week at college and remainder of the week in the workplace. Apprenticeships are designed by employers for employers and are tailored to meet the needs of each specific sector. An apprenticeship will allow you to get qualified, get paid and get a career all in one go! The College has up-todate, industry-standard salons, which give you the opportunity to work with real clients, giving you valuable practical and realistic working experience to prepare you for work or further study. You will have the opportunity to go on off-site visits to the Salon International at Excel, other trade and hair shows, and external workshops. Applicants will be required to show evidence of their ability to be successful in the theoretical and practical parts of the course, during their interview. Completion of diagnostic tests in Literacy and Numeracy at Level 1 is required. Course Content Diploma in Hairdressing Level 2 (NVQ) (QCF) : • G20 Health and Safety • G17 Good Customer Service • G7 Client Consultation • GH8 Shampoo and Condition Hair and Scalp • GH9 Change Hair Colour • GH10 Style Hair • GH11 Set and Dress Hair • GH12 Cut Hair. Optional units include: • GH14 Perming and Neutralising • G18 Promoting Services and Products • G4 Salon Reception • Functional Skills Maths and English Level 1 • Employer rights and responsibilities. How will I be assessed? Assessed in the workplace by the Work-Based Learning Support Officer for Hairdressing and in the College salon during day release day. Progression Progression to Advanced Apprenticeship, barbering and previous hairdressing apprentices have gone on to study hairdressing within Higher Education focusing upon hair and make-up for the stage, screen or camera.
