HAIRDRESSING (NVQ Level 2)

At Pendleton we have superb facilities, resources and equipment especially for students studying Hair & Beauty. We have strong links with Wella and local salons and benefit from this is a number of ways including free workshop demonstrations.

What will I study?
Units include:

• Health and Safety
• Consult and Advise with Clients/Give Clients a Positive Impression of Yourself
• Shampoo and Condition Hair and Scalp
• Style Hair using Drying and Setting Techniques
• Cut Hair using Basic Techniques
• Perm and Neutralise Hair
• Colour Hair using Basic Techniques
• Develop and Maintain your Effectiveness at Work
• Promote Additional Products and Services to Clients

What will I achieve?
You will gain an NVQ Level 2 in hairdressing which will prepare you for employment in Hairdressing Salons, Health Clubs, Cruise Liners and Freelance Work. You may progress to Hairdressing NVQ Level 3. You may wish to study technical certificates in colouring and cutting.

How is the course assessed?
A portfolio of evidence must be produced over the year by the learner to include:

• Practical Assessments
• Client consultation sheets
• Photographic evidence
• Unit assignments
• Written tests
• Oral questioning
• Online assessments

What else will I do?
Our links with Wella will enable you to visit studios for technical demonstrations and seminars. As part of our enrichment at Pendleton, you will have the opportunity to complete further units such as Barbering and Indian Head Massage. Throughout the course you will work in industry for one day a week to gain additional experience. You will have the opportunity to join in competitions and visit shows. You will also be given the opportunity to participate in college competitions.
