Course description
We have tried to make attendance as flexible as possible. You may come on a full-time or part-time basis, but it is also possible to attend on a block release or day release basis, if you have already gained a work placement in a salon. Level 2 trainees will be competent in all aspects of hairdressing to a basic level, and will be ready to take up positions as junior stylists in hair salons.

What will I study?
At Level 2 the subjects studied are those essential to a junior stylist. Not only will you discover how to advise and consult with clients you will learn all the practical techniques involved. These include shampooing and conditioning the hair, changing hair colour using basic techniques, styling and cutting hair.

You will also develop and maintain effective teamwork skills while supporting the health, safety and security of the salon environment.

The college hairdressing salon is based in Hair at Morven, the training salon situated within the House of Morven on the main campus in Thurso. In addition to learning the theoretical aspects of hairdressing, you will also be able to gain invaluable practical experience by being a part of this commercial training salon.
