Web Design Courses - Handcoding HTML course
This web design course introduces the underlying concepts of marking up HTML and XHTML code. The focus is upon the basic techniques and best practice Website structure and hand coding enhancing working to W3C standards for compliancy, and basic standards for accessibility and browser compatibility. The principle aim of this course is to provide students with a core understanding of HTML coding by hand, which it is often impossible to attain through other comparable courses tools such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage.
Course Content:
- Text editors and the html document structure
- Understanding the prolog; DTDs, HTML
- Structural headings (h1, h2, h3), unordered lists (UL) and ordered lists (OL)
- Tables, th, tr, td tags and Div tags
- Layout and formatting with Cascading Stylesheets
- Hyperlink anchors and image tags,
- Hyperlinks and images, title and alt attributes
- Iframes
- Code validation and web accessibility issues
- Metatags, title tags, headings and the basics of coding for search engines
- Working with forms: OPTION, SELECT, POST, GET, INPUT, SUBMIT, TEXTAREA, LABEL and LEGEND
- Image maps (AREA tag), rollover images and multipart images
- Web design don'ts: Frames, Flash and why not to use them. Further discussion on the benefits of handcoding over software wizards.
